Nestled in the beautiful gardens romance is blossoming in our new Arch Cottage for this gorgeous pair of white Zebra finches hatched their first brood of five chicks this weekend.

Meanwhile next door this chestnut eared male Zebra is keeping a careful watch over his home and contents while his wife pops out to get something to eat. Together they share the duties of incubating their four eggs which depending on how tightly the pair sat during incubation should hatch in about 12 days.

Zebra Finches originate from Australia where their Aboriginal names are Nyi-Nyi and Nyeen-ka however all the Zebras staying in Arch Cottage were born and bred here. They come in a different variety of colours and markings and are naturally very inquisitive social birds living happily in large groups where their joyful song can be heard across the gardens of Park Hall

Arch Cottage provides everything a Zebra Finch needs with a warm enclosed area, a shaded rain and wind proof section and a large open area with natural Eucalyptus branches and Liana Wood perches all of which the finches can fly to and fro from.  For their refreshments Millet Sprays are provided with an assortment of different finch seeds, Cuttlefish for calcium, mineral blocks for good health and plenty of fresh water too.
No wonder Zebra Finches love staying here at Park Hall!
